Northern Cape | Suspect arrested for possession of dagga

Kinberley: Upington Public Order Police members and Visible Policing members of Danielskuil SAPS under the command of the Acting Station Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Jacque September operationalized information received from the community on Friday, 11 January 2019 regarding drugs being sold in Tlhakalathou informal settlement.

While performing Safer Festive Season

operations at 21:00 Friday evening the members raided two shacks next to each other where drugs were allegedly being sold. The two shacks were raided simultaneously and a 36-year-old suspect was arrested after he was found in possession of 89 and a half mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R 8 950-00.

At the second shack, a 57-year-old male suspect was arrested and 16 pokes of dagga was seized. Police also confiscated R 803-00 in cash believed to be the proceeds of the drug sales. Both suspects will be appearing on Monday, 14 January 2019 in the Postmasburg Magistrates’ Court.

During the same crime prevention operations, the police also arrested 5 persons for drunkenness and riotous behaviour and 1 wanted suspect in connection with an attempted murder case.
