An intelligence driven operation conducted this afternoon by members of Flying Squad and K9 led to the arrest of two business robbery suspects in Browns Farm, Philippi.

Friday, 2018-12-07 a business robbery occurred at a sports shop at a shopping mall in Claremont. According to reports three (3) unknown males positively armed entered the shop threatened the staff and took 100 cellular telephones and three phones of customers.

Information was liaised with members of Flying Squad and K9 members. Members acted swiftly and on arrival at the given location in Browns Farm the suspects were found who ran but members managed to arrest two suspects still wearing the same clothes worn during the robbery.

The premises were searched but only packages and tags of the store and phones were found. One customers phone was also recovered and the firearm used with 16 rounds.

Further investigation verified that the firearm was robbed from the owner and an armed robbery Case was reported at Delft SAPS in March 2018.

Two suspects age 22 and 24 were apprehended and their accomplices are now being sought. Once charged, the suspects will appear in Philippi Magistrates Court on charges of business robbery and possession of stolen property.
