A pastor has died after being shot in the early hours of Saturday morning in Mossel Bay, Western Cape. Police spokesperson, col. Maurice van Egmond said that pastor Johan van Eeden was shot outside his house in De Bakke. However, the exact events are not yet clear. "Van Eeden and his son were alone at home at the time of the shooting. He woke up his son and said he was shot. He died soon afterwards," said Van Egmond. It's believed that Van Eeden may have heard something outside the house, took his licensed firearm and went outside to investigate.The incident happened at 00h40. Van Eeden's firearm is currently missing. "Further down the road, a resident saw a suspicious looking man walking past him. He called to the person but the person ignored him. Moments later, a shot went off and the same suspicious person came running past him", Van Egmond said. "A case of murder is currently being investigated and nobody has been arrested yet", Van Egmond said. According to Maroela Media, Van Eeden was called from PPK Potgietersrus to Mossel Bay only three weeks ago.
