28/10/2020 Brackenfell Motor Vehicle collision between a Truck and light Motor Vehicle.
At 12:00 today our Medical Team received a call of a Motor Vehicle collision on the corner of Okavango and Tanner Street .
On arrival our Medical Team together with ER24 quickly ensured that the scene was
safe so that all Emergency Personnel can work in a safe environment.
Three patients were found on scene and were transported to a nearby Hospital for further medical treatment.
Thank you to Fire & Rescue Services for your assistance on scene.
A very unfortunate incident occurred on scene where a person who appears to be a police officer took it upon himself to harass all the Medical Personnel while they were working and assisting the injured that were still inside the vehicle and lying in the road.
Forcing them to move their Ambulances from where they were stationed next to the accident and treating the patients.
The said person continued to threaten and intimidate the medical staff on scene
stating that he will arrest them if they do not move their vehicles and adhere to his instructions.
What the officer might not understand is that it is our mandate as an Emergency Medical Service to ensure scene safety as first priority for both the public and the injured so that a secondary collision do not occur which can be fatal towards the Emergency personnel working on an accident scene.
The officer refused to state his rank and identify himself and continued with his unprofessional conduct, eventually leaving the scene without assisting any further.
