The City of Cape Town says lifeguards will be on duty at beaches to coincide with the weeklong school holiday which begins today.
Mayoral Committee Member for Community Services, Zahid Badroodien, says lifeguards will be stationed at 26 bathing areas between 10 am and 6pm daily, until the 12th of April
He says beachgoers are reminded to only swim at beaches where lifeguards are present and in demarcated areas
"Far too many times we see young children coming to pool and beaches and tidal pools on their own, unsupervised.
An so we're warning against such behaviour this year.
In addition to our water safety the Recreation and Parks Department is also placing emphasis on Covid-19 health and safety protocols an so as such swimming pools will only have 50 percent capacity.""https://scontent-jnb1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/122313341_3654948527890838_3764101178172999198_n.jpg?_nc_cat=102&ccb=2&_nc_sid=8024bb&_nc_ohc=1cvHngsQnv8AX_xKkaB&_nc_ht=scontent-jnb1-1.xx&oh=25032913db40b37a0b690d0719c30657&oe=5FB87A1A"
