Cape Town's luxurious 5-star Table Bay hotel in the V&A Waterfront will open its doors to guests on 30 October.
The move is also part of ongoing efforts to further open up the city's tourism industry.
The hotel will play host to the finale of the Miss South Africa pageant on 24
This is the first time in the pageant's 62-year history that the Mother City will be hosting the event.
The 10 finalists checked in at the hotel on Friday.
Sun International says that even th ough it has a long history with the pageant, it was never an option to host it at The Table Bay because the hotel always had guests.
The hotel has been closed since the beginning of the lockdown, but is getting ready to open now that the country has moved to level one.
Since its launch in 1997, attended by legendary statesman Nelson Mandela, the 329-bed hotel has acquired a string of local and international accolades.
In keeping with strict COVID-19 regulations, the Table Bay has put in place
extensive health and safety protocols in place in order to ensure the safety of guests.
Measures include stringent cleaning and sanitizing, physical distancing both in front and back-of-house, temperature checks on entry and completing medical questionnaires on arrival.
