Former Finance Minister Trevor Manuel has joined the racial debate that stems from the Western Cape Education Department accusing a teacher of fraud.
Glen Synman identified himself as African on a job application form after previously saying he was Coloured.
The charges against Synman have now been dropped.
Manuel says Snyman was right
adding that there's no legislation in South Africa that requires people to provide their racial classification: "Snyman is perfectly correct.
It's shocking that the Western Cape Education Department can think that he could ever be guilty of fraud, particularly because the Employment Equity Act stipulates that Black people means Coloureds, South African Coloureds, Indians collectively.
That is perfectly acceptable language.""https://scontent-jnb1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/s720x720/121705734_3635457776506580_7153468048388027451_o.jpg?_nc_cat=105&_nc_sid=110474&_nc_ohc=LfPqoJhpeOgAX_AacKB&_nc_ht=scontent-jnb1-1.xx&tp=7&oh=395d8af06548a9a9f7b0285cddf579cc&oe=5FAEE98B"
