The Desmond & Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation has appealed to government to hold culprits within its ranks accountable for coronavirus corruption.
A statement released by the foundation says allegations that corruption have been turned into business opportunities for the politically connected, are a massive setback for the country.
In a strongly worded
statement, the Desmond & Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation says news of the coronavirus funds being looted does not come as a big surpr ise.
It says Instead of acting against the corrupt, over the years, systems and individuals have been compromised and the State and ruling party have become increasingly factionalised.
The foundation says the allegations have widened the lack of trust between government, citizens and companies, who want to grow the economy.
It has called on government to act decisively and hold the culprits in its ranks accountable, regardless of who they are.
