A number of roads have closed in St Helena Bay and Laingville on the Cape West Coast due to ongoing protests.
Tyres have also been set alight on the main road in Vredenburg.
This morning protests spilled over to Steenberg's Cove which is normally a peaceful fishing village.
Police are monitoring the
situation and sporadic shots can be heard.
The community of Laingville has been protesting for several weeks to highlight their demands for better service delivery and housing.
On Friday night, an 11- year-old boy was shot in the head, allegedly by police.
He is in a critical condition in Red Cross Children's Hospital.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate is probing the incident.
