Eastern Cape: The Detectives arrested 51 men and 5 women during an operation that concentrated on a suspects raid yesterday around the OR Tambo District. The suspects with their ages ranging between 21 and 47 were arrested for crimes between common robbery to murder. All will be caused to appear
before their respective courts today.
On the other hand, operations on enforcing the Disaster Management Act were conducted around the District last night and 21 men and 05 women between 20 and 49 were arrested for failing to confine themselves whilst the 49-year-old man was arrested for selling liquor during lockdown.
Lastly, two men 24 and 28 years of age were arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition at Marhambeni locality Mthatha yesterday at about 18:30.
Police followed a case of pointing with a firearm and managed to effect an arrest of the two suspects who were found in possession of an erased 9mm Norinco pistol with 13 rounds of ammunition.
They will be profiled and
linked to other crimes and the firearm will be sent for ballistic testing. All the arrested will appear before their respective courts today.
