The Office of the president has confirmed that Cyril Ramaphosa will address the nation at eight o' clock tonight on developments in the country's risk-adjusted strategy to manage the spread of the coronavirus.
It is expected that he will outline government's strategy on the containment of the virus after the
number of infections skyrocketed to more than 264 000 in the past few days.
South Africa is now among the top ten countries with the most cases.
However, the number of de aths, which now stands at almost 4 000, is still relatively low in comparison with countries that have more cases.
The President's address will follow a number of meetings of the Cabinet, the National Coronavirus Command Council and the President's Coordinating Council.
The address will be broadcast live on television and radio and will be streamed live on a range of online platforms.
