Western Cape Education Minister, Debbie Schafer, says school disruptions by community members and civic organisations concerned about coronavirus cases are putting lives at risk.
She says the organisations claim to have the safety of learners and teachers at heart.
Schafer says it's their own actions that are concerning: "Video evidence shows people
entering schools, and organisations taking learners to the streets, not wearing their masks correctly, nor adhering to physical distancing.
In addition, they are denying learners of one of the most fundamental rights in our Constitution - the right to Education.
While I completely understand the anxiety and concern of teachers and parents, I also have to ensure that our system functions.
We are, like our colleagues in health, providing a public service."https://scontent-jnb1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/84272018_3298361080216253_564524808559289295_n.jpg?_nc_cat=102&_nc_sid=110474&_nc_ohc=xX0X9YZqPgsAX86mCNC&_nc_ht=scontent-jnb1-1.xx&oh=cb1f3517c029c167ddb3252e590ef97d&oe=5F1EB726"
