Schools in Khayelitsha on the Cape Flats will be open today following an engagement last night with stakeholders amid concerns that safety protocols were not being uniformly implemented.
Western Cape Education Minister Debbie Schäfer and her national counterpart Minister Angie Motshekga participated in the meeting with the Khayelitsha Covid-19 Response Team
which was established to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic in the area.
There are more than 1 000 active cases in Khayelitsha and more than 234 deaths.
Schäfer says the response team gave the assurance that there would be no disruption of schools today and that the Khayelitsha Development Forum and Khayelitsha Education Forum distanced themselves from SANCO's call to close schools."https://scontent-jnb1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/72917117_3296886200363741_4824693962198634160_n.jpg?_nc_cat=108&_nc_sid=8024bb&_nc_ohc=eMMHafHRxroAX_JWGDW&_nc_ht=scontent-jnb1-1.xx&oh=8d9beee7d0109a10523c0ceb2fa567ea&oe=5F20FB45"
