The University of Cape Town's Children's Institute says South Africa's strategies to combat the spread of COVID-19 should include measures to reduce violence against women and children.
The Institute says some of the measures it wants implemented under lockdown level 3 include the reopening of Early Childhood Development Centres.
It also wants
adequate access to health care for women and children and an increase in social grants per child.
This is the message as Child Protection Week kicks off today and will alst until the 7th of June.
The Institute's spokesperson Lwazikasi Sibisi says Child Protection Week is also a time to critically reflect on how children are positioned in the country."https://scontent-jnb1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/102413011_3218178338234528_3533936994235187200_n.jpg?_nc_cat=104&_nc_sid=8024bb&_nc_ohc=hLv-wyLpwXAAX_1blQE&_nc_ht=scontent-jnb1-1.xx&oh=a2a77fc68efa51c064a2af359c3ff8f6&oe=5EF8099A"
