One of our Rapid Response Vehicles was damaged on Thursday evening just after 11pm as he was racing to a critical patient south of Durban.
Emergency Care Practitioner Sheldon Lombard was responding on the N2 South Bound when he came around the corner near Chesterville and hit a concrete slab placed
in the roadway.
Luckily he was able to drive to a safer location where he noticed the tyres were damaged.
This is not an isolated incident and could have been more serious if Sheld on had lost control of the vehicle.
Rescue Care has had multiple reports recently of damaged vehicles around the Chesterville area.
Paramedics would like to remind all road users to please pay special attention to the road and avoid high risk areas especially in the dark.
