Crime and deaths have again escalated this weekend in the Western Cape.

Forensic services recorded a total of 47 murders, which include 27 shootings, 13 stabbings and seven murders by other means in the Metro.

Among the dead are a mother from

Kuils River who was stabbed by her teenage son, and a 29 year old taxi driver who was shot in the face multiple times.

Western Cape Premier Alan Winde has called on everyone to make the fight against crime their responsibility.

"This is a whole of society approach.

We need to bring in all role players.

I want to urge people to help us join your local neighbourhood watch and support NGO's that are helping us fighting crime, like the Pink Ladies.

So we

need to do this together, and we will play our part in the province."
