SAPS National Commemoration Day- 2019 #FinalSalute for Constable VM March, for the oath you took, for your bravery to protect and serve, the SAPS says,
"Re a leboga/thank you".
In loving memory of a fallen hero, the SAPS found it fitting to engrave your name on the national
memorial wall situated in the Union Buildings, to signify the immeasurable and inexpressible gratitude of the nation.
The late Constable VM March was 27 year of age, stationed at the Koffiefontein Police Station in the Free State and had eight years of service in the organisation.
On the fateful day of his death, 21 January 2019, the late member was performing his crime prevention duties and patrolling the Koffiefontein policing area, when he and his crew received a complaint of a suspicious-looking vehicle that was parked at the De Keil Farm.
On arrival at the scene, the late member and his crew went inside the house to make sure that everything was in order.
While they were inside the house, the alleged suspect,
who was suspected to be the owner of the suspicious-looking vehicle, fired shots at them.
Unfortunately, the late member was fatally wounded by the shots.
His crew members also sustained injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital.
Sadly, the member died and left behind a 3-year-old and his family in deep sorrow.
The sad reality is that a child has lost a father, the family has lost a brother, an uncle and provider while the community lost a crime fighter, who only wanted to do his job when following up the complaint.
The management of the SAPS salutes you for your bravery, loyalty and sacrifices to serve and protect - no longer with us, you will not be forgotten.
