The Western Cape Policing Forum Board has reneged on its earlier stance not to attend this weekend's Crime Summit organised by the National Police Ministry.

The Board that comprises community policing forums in the province has been complaining that the summit

will be another talk shop on crime issues.

The group held a picket outside Parliament today, demanding that a state of emergency be declared and that the army be deployed in townships.

Eleven people were shot dead at Phillipi this past weekened.
