A number of people have been rescued in the Western Cape.

At Sunset Beach in Sea Point, a bystander noticed two teenagers caught in rip currents.

He swam out about 100 meters and on reaching a 19 year old girl, he

was able to coach her to use the waves to get back to shore.

The 14-year old girl also managed to use incoming waves to swim safely to the beach.

In Hermanus, a 53-year old woman was trapped on the mountain with her dog.

NSRI spokesperson, Craig Lambinon says one of their crews, trained in high angle rescue, abseiled down to them and hoisted both back to safety.

And in Knysna, three men who were out rowing, were caught in increasing wind

speeds.

The men were transferred onto a NSRI rescue craft and their boat was towed back to the St James Jetty.
