Child Rights Organisation in Cape Town Molo Songololo has raised concern about people with criminal records working with children. This follows the reported rape of an 11-year-old. A man with three alleged sex-crime convictions was employed to guard a Cape
Town creche and reportedly raped the child across the street from the facility. Director of Molo Shongololo, Patrick Solomons says, "We are very happy this man has been apprehended of course and that he is now being prosecuted. However, we feel that many of these crimes can be prevented if we just take extra care, if the educators, if the management, if the principles of these educating facilities make sure that they contact the police to vet them before
they start working at their facilities."
