Former NPA boss Mxolisi Nxasana says there was "bad vibe" between himself and then acting NDPP Advocate Nomgcobo Jiba, and Willie Hofmeyer before he started working there on the 1st of October 2013. He told the Commission of Inquiry into
State Capture that as he was getting ready to take up his position at the NPA, there were cars driving around his hometown of Umlazi in Durban. Nxasana says unknown people were asking information about him. He says he was puzzled after he subsequently learnt that Advocate Jiba was behind the surveillance. Nxasana's expected to shed light on how the NPA was allegedly captured. During his tenure, he had a fair share of disagreements with former president Jacob Zuma
which led him to vacate office in 2015. Last year, the Constitutional Court ordered Nxasana to pay back 10 million rand of the 17 point three million rand 'golden handshake' Zuma gave him to resign as the NDPP (Pic: Mxolisi Nxasana)
