The State has indicated that it wants a life sentence imposed on convicted wife killer, Rob Packham.Packham is expected to be sentenced in the Western Cape High Court today. Last month, the Constantia businessman was found guilty of his wife,
Gill's murder. The charred body of the 57-year old school administrator was found in the boot of her burnt out car near the Diep River railway station in February last year. In handing down judgement last month, High Court Judge, Elize Steyn, said the evidence pointed overwhelmingly that the state proved its case beyond reasonable doubt that Packham had killed his wife. Judge Steyn described him as a crafty deceiver who lived a selfish double life. He was also
found guilty of obstructing the administration of justice. Packham was arrested in March, last year, after his wife's body was found in the boot of her burnt out car. During the trial he maintained his innocence. He also admitted to being involved with another woman during his marriage. The state argued that Packham killed his wife and covered it up to look like a possible hijacking.
