The ANC in the Western Cape says a R1 million donation made by media tycoon Dr Iqbal Surve for the party's election campaign, has been returned. On Sunday night, Surve made a hefty donation to the ANC's electoral efforts in
the Western Cape through his company Sekunjalo investments. Surve reportedly said he did not want anything in return from the ANC for the donation that was made at an upmarket restaurant. The businessman has been embroiled in an ongoing investigation into alleged corruption concerning the Public Investment Corporation. ANC spokesperson, Lionel Adendorf, says returning the donation is the right thing to do: "Following an assessment that we have made internally we have decided to return the money and given
the revelations made into the commission of inquiry into the PIC we thought that is the best decision at this moment." Surve could not be immediately reached to comment.
