Alleged Cape Town underworld boss, Nafiz Modack and his mother, Ruwaida have briefly appeared in Cape Town Magistrate's court on charges of corruption. The duo, aged 37 and 60, handed themselves over to the Hawks' Serious Corruption Investigation Unit
in Cape Town this morning. This follows a lengthy investigation into their alleged corrupt relationship with a former senior police officer. They allegedly paid gratifications to him in 2011 to advance their private personal business interests. The Modacks were released on bail of five thousand rand each. The case has been postponed to next week Thursday for an additional suspect to be added.
