Members of the Anti-Gang Unit arrested several suspects and seized firearms in Manenberg

In order to prevent and combat crime that may threaten the safety and security of
community members, members attached to the Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) acted swiftly whilst doing crime prevention duties in the Manenberg area.
Last night members of the AGU responded to a shooting in Sabie Road, Manenberg. As members conducted a foot patrol they found a 31-year-old man in possession of a 9mm firearm and 17 rounds of ammunition. The suspect was arrested for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
As members apprehended the suspect, more shots went off and information was
received about a firearm at a premises in 15D Renoster Weg, Manenberg. Members immediately made their way there and found a 34-year-old man in possession of a 9mm pistol without a serial number and 11 rounds of ammunition. The suspect was arrested for illegal possession of prohibited firearm and ammunition.
While still on the scene members also arrested a 36-year-old man when he was searched and found to be in possession of 25 rounds of ammunition. He will be charged for illegal possession of ammunition.
At about 23:18 the members responded to a shooting and conducted a foot patrol. They proceeded to Helen Court, Manenberg, and searched the premises. An 18-year-old man was found in possession of a .38 Special revolver without a serial number. He will be charged for the possession of a prohibited firearm.
The suspects are due to appear in court soon on the mentioned charges.
