Two trial of the two men, allegedly involved in torturing a seal pup, are expected to start in the Laaiplek Magistrate's Court this morning. Marius Tredoux and Rynard van den Heever are facing a number of charges under

the Biodiversity Act‚ Marine Living Resources Act and the Animal Protection Act. In a cellphone video that went viral on social media, one of them can be seen stabbing the seal, while the other is filming the incident that took place in December 2017. Spokesperson for the West Coast SPCA, Colette Mang says they want justice. "We have had confirmation from the prosecutor that they should be appearing. The witnesses have been called. We are certainly

hoping that the trial will go ahead because what they did was a terrible thing and we would like justice for that seal pup."
