Economists say they remain extremely worried about the recent rotational load shedding announced by Eskom. The power utility announced stage three load shedding from this morning until eleven o'clock tonight after implementing stage four rotational load shedding yesterday. Econometrix economist
Azar Jammine says the power cuts are damaging any prospects of attracting investment either locally or internationally. Meanwhile, the Cape Chamber of Commerce and Industry say it is shocked by the sudden dramatic increase in load shedding. It says sabotage was blamed for a previous bout of load shedding, but the form it took was never explained to the public, except for workers who prevented coal deliveries from taking place.
