A man who was stabbed this afternoon at the municipal dump on New England road outside Pietermaritzburg, was rushed to hospital with the blade still embedded in his neck.
ER24 paramedics and the South African Police Services were on the scene
at around 1pm.
The man, who was approximately 30 years of age, had been stabbed by an unknown assailant and was in a life-threatening situation. Lucky to have not suffered a more serious wound, the man was never-the-less treated by Advanced Life Support as critical due to the blade's potential to do more harm.
He was transported to Greys Hospital for further treatment. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are unknown to ER24.
