Alleged drunk driver crashes into boundary wall on Marine Drive
It was a close call on Marine Drive in the Bluff last night when an alleged drunk driver crashed into a boundary wall after he nearly swiped a few other cars
on the roadway.
An Alpha Alarms member who was on Marine Drive, responded to the scene and called for SAPS and emergency services.
According to reports, the driver of the crashed vehicle appeared to be heavily intoxicated and had a passenger and a little dog in the vehicle. The female passenger was visibly traumatized and the dog was comforted by bystanders on scene.
It is alleged that the driver lost control of the vehicle and swerved uncontrollably before he crashed into
the wall and knocked out a water meter.
Police were quickly on scene as well as emergency services who attended to the injured female.
Police escorted the alleged drunk driver to the police station.
Drivers are advised to refrain from driving under the influence of alcohol as the safety and lives of innocent road users and passengers are compromised.
There has been much carnage on the roads since the start of the festive season and Metro Police reported that over 100 motorists were arrested for drunk driving between Friday and Sunday.
