Premier Helen Zille and Constituency Head of the Overstrand Municipality, Mazisole Mnqasela are in Hermanus this morning to meet with the leaders of Zwelihle Renewal and Overstrand Unite. Last week Friday, a large crowd representing the various communities in

Hermanus, marched to the Civic Centre, with a list of demands. During a four hour meeting on that day with officials and the premier, the communities raised 22 issues of concern. They demanded among others, the resignation of the municipal manager and the dissolution of the council. They also wanted a moratorium placed on all public land sales and lease agreements. Mnqasela says Zille promised to investigate their complaints and report back today. "The list of demands,

includes among others, complaints about housing and allocation of housing to beneficiaries and some of the elements of corruption and that which we have to deal with, because if there's questions about how you should get a house and that there's a doubt about the process itself, we cannot sit back and not address that it's very important that we address those issues."
