While most learners have been back at school for several weeks, those who study magic, have just started their academic year. The College of Magic in Cape Town, now in it's 38th year, is the only one of its kind in the world, and today new aspirant magicians embarked on their magical journey. Over 200 students are currently enrolled, and they will learn all about magic, juggling, miming, puppetry and ventriloquism. Instructor Olwethu Dyantyi says a sponsored community outreach programme, Magic in the Community, also makes it possible for 80 disadvantaged children, to share in the enthralling world of all things magical. "Last year we did four rural places, Piketberg, Franschhoek, Somerset West and Wellington. It was a great experience to go out and teach these kids about magic. We taught them cards, and juggling." The college also boats South Africa's only magic shop.
