ANC MPL in the Western Cape legislature, Richard Dyantyi, has wlecomed the conviction of a former DA councillor on fraud charges. The Bellville Commercial Crimes Court has found Councillor Wilma Brady guilty of contravening the Public Finance Management Act. The court found that Brady misrepresented herself as a Western Cape Government Housing official and illegally authorised the construction of RDP houses in Blue Downs where she was elected. Brady also fraudulently entered into building contracts with property developers worth three-million-rand in 2006. Dyantyi who is the ANC 's local government spokesperson in the province says they have been vindicated for taking action against Brady. Brady is out on a warning and is set to be sentenced on the 17th of August. The DA says it will be studying the judgment before making a decision on her membership.
