Western Cape Traffic authorities have arrested six motorists overnight for drunken driving at various roadblocks. Provincial Traffic Chief, Kenny Africa says officers also arrested one person for reckless and negligent driving in Vredendal on the West Coast. Africa says one person was killed in Caledon in the Overberg, when the driver lost control of his vehicle. "The total amount of fines issued was R200 500. And we also tested the speed of several motor vehicles since yesterday and prosecuted 168 drivers for exceeding the different speed limits. The highest speed recorded in the Western Cape since yesterday was 160km/h in 120 zone on the N1 near Laingsburg, 135km/h in 100 zone in Swellendam and in Vredenburg, 122km/h in 80 zone."
