Kidnap Victim Rescued By Reaction Officers: Glen Anil - KZN A 26 year old Zimbabwean national was rescued by members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) after he was kidnapped in Parkgate - KZN last night (Tuesday).
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for assistance
at approximately 22:27 from the victim's brother requesting assistance after they received a call from him stating that he was being held against his will at an unknown location.
His captures were demanding R5000 for his release.
During the call the victim managed to send his brother a pin drop of his location on WhatsApp.
Reaction Officers met with his relatives in Phoenix - KZN before following the pin drop to a sugar cane plantation in Glen Anil - KZN.
On arrival, Officers began searching the cane field when they heard the victim calling out for assistance.
A volley of shots were then fired by the suspects who fled through the cane.
Reaction Officers located the victim who explained that he was on route to
a tuck shop in Parkgate - KZN when he was confronted by four men in a silver Toyota Corolla.
They bundled him into the vehicle before they sped off.
They were dropped off in the cane field where they assaulted him.
They handed him back his cellphone and asked him to contact his family to arrange the ransom money.
They were unaware that he had managed to send his family a pin drop of his location.
The suspects confiscated his phone after the call.
The kidnappers were also Zimbabwean nationals.
The victim left the scene with his family after he opted to seek medical attention prior to registering a criminal case.
