PARKTOWN - On Wednesday, 29 June 2022 members of SAPS Pretoria Moot conducted a crime prevention operation around Gezina area and arrested five suspects and recovered two hijacked vehicle in separate incidents.
Information was received by SAPS Pretoria Moot Crime Prevention about a suspicious white NP 200 that was driving towards
Gezina, in Pretoria.
The team detected the said vehicle at the corner of John Heyns and Jacobs Streets and the vehicle was stopped.
Upon searching and inspecting the vehicle it was found that the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) was tampered with.
The investigation revealed that the vehicle was hijacked in Lyttelton in September 2019.
The members arrested three suspects.
In another incident, members of SAPS Pretoria Moot stopped a suspicious looking mini truck during a crime prevention operation in Gezina.
Further investigation revealed that the said vehicle is linked to a hijacking case which was reported at Mabopane police station in March 2020; two suspects were subsequently arrested.
