MAN MURDERED IN RATANDA FOLLOWING HOUSE ROBBERY, ASSAULT...
Residents of Extention 23 in Ratanda, Heidelberg are still reeling after the shock murder of one of their own last night (June 27) during a house robbery.
According to Ratanda SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant Moss Maluleke, it is alleged that a man arrived at his home in Thenjekwayo Street at around 20:10
yesterday evening.
On alighting from his vehicle, the man was approached by four male suspects who pointed a firearm in his direction.
They demanded that he hand over the keys of his vehicle, which he did.
The suspects then tied the man up and proceeded into the house.
For unknown reasons, the perpetrators then poured hot water over the sister of the man, before shooting his father, Mr Amos Mofokeng (48) twice, in the chest and stomach.
They then took cellphones and fled the scene in the vehicle, a white Volkswagen Amarok.
Police were called and Ratanda SAPS, Heidelberg Crime Prevention Unit (CPU) and the tracker company gave chase after the robbers.
The car was found abandoned in Tsakane near to the new RDP houses.
Mr.
Mofokeng sadly
later succumbed to his wounds in the Heidelberg Hospital.
Police are pleading with members of the community to come forward with any information which could lead to the arrest of these suspects.
