The City of Cape Town wants to inform commuters that roadworks will take place along Kloof Nek Road on Friday, 24 June 2022.
Traffic flow will be impacted and road users are advised to use alternative routes as far as possible.
The work will take place as follows:
On Friday,
24 June 2022
From 09:00 to 15:00
Along Kloof Nek Road between Firdale Avenue and Bellevue Street
Both fast lanes, north- and southbound, will be closed to traffic between Firdale Avenue and Bellevue Street while work is ongoing A slight bump has formed just before the manhole that is located in the Table Bay-bound fast lane just before Quarry Hill Road.
This has been caused by the settlement in the underlying road foundation.
The bump has become worse over the past six months and the intention is to level the road pavement with hotmix asphalt.
If all goes as planned, the work should be done within a day.
Flag personnel will be on site to regulate traffic, however, given that Kloof Nek Road
is an important access route, delays should be expected.
I want to urge road users to please avoid Kloof Nek Road on Friday as the work will disrupt traffic flow.
We will try our best to complete the work as soon as possible.
This is an emergency repair and must be done to prevent the bump from getting worse and posing a danger to road users, in particular given that this is on the downhill section of Kloof Nek Road as you approach the bay.
I want to thank all for their support and understanding,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
