This afternoon, four people were killed, including a 7-month-old girl, and another left injured when a bakkie and light motor vehicle collided on the R40 outside of Phalaborwa. ER24 arrived on the scene at 15h57 to find other services already in attendance.
A bakkie and a light motor vehicle were parked
on the side of the road. On closer inspection, medics found a man and a woman lying trapped inside the light motor vehicle.
Unfortunately, both patients had already succumbed to their numerous injuries.
Nothing could be done for them, and they were declared dead. A woman in her 30s and a 7-month-old girl were found lying outside the car while another patient from the bakkie was seen walking around. Medics assessed the patients and found that the woman and child were in a critical condition while the other patient had sustained moderate injuries. The patients were treated, and the two critically injured were provided with advanced life support.
After treatment, the patients were transported to a nearby hospital for urgent care. Unfortunately,
after some time, the woman and child succumbed to their injuries in hospital. This incident's details are unknown, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
