No large-scale electricity outages are expected today or tomorrow, despite social media messages to this effect that are being widely circulated. Unions NUMSA and NUM have not announced any strike, but they intend to hold a demonstration at Eskom's Megawatt Park offices in Johannesburg tomorrow. The unions are protesting against the power utility's zero percent wage offer. Unions are demanding a 15 percent increase. General Secretary of NUMSA, Irvin Jim says Eskom's cash-flow problems are perpetuated by a bloated management structure and it's austerity measures are an attack on workers."I mean we were never consulted that the National Treasury will not budget to ensure that Eskom, as a critical institution, in the centre of minerals, energy and the finance complex, which make up the South African economy, that it cannot be resourced." Eskom has said it has contingency plans in place to ensure the power supply is not affected tomorrow
