Emergency services at George in the Southern Cape have closed Gwaiing Beach due to large pieces of debris in the river mouth following heavy rainfall.
Chief Fire Officer, Neels Barnard, says there are lifeguards stationed at the beach but no swimming will be allowed due to safety concerns.
He says the area
is dangerous for swimming as the water is dark and the mouth is three meters deep at some points.
Barnard says they'll continue to monitor the situation.
