Cape Town Tourism says it has negotiated discounted flights and accommodation for domestic tourists travelling to Cape Town this festive period.
The City of Cape Town says recent studies have put loss of revenue as a result of cancelled bookings, at about R250 million, just for December alone.
CEO of Cape Town
Tourism, Enver Duminy, says they want to stimulate domestic travel as the international travel ban as a result of the omicron virus, will be devastating to the local hospitality and tourism industry: "It's in order to make sure that it's not a strain on your bank account when you come to Cape Town this festive season, and what we encourage people to do is to go to our website or travelstart website, sign up for their mailing list and they will start sending discounts.
These can be R300 off a flight, up to 30 percent off accommodation or experiences, and every day they start updating this because as the industry gets updated they come on board."
