To mark #16DaysOfActivismAgainstGenderBasedViolence today, the Western Cape Government unpacked its GBV implementation plan to strengthen our collective response, at all levels over the next 10 years - making our making our province safer for women & children.
Together with Minister Sharna Gail Fernandez, we also lit a candle this morning commemorating
the launch of the #16daysofActivism2021 against GBV & femicide.
We must pay homage to victims of GBV, but also ensure that women and girls in the province are empowered to achieve their highest potential.
Men in the province have a critical role to play in the fight against GBV.
Violence against women doesn't just happen - it is almost always committed by men.
And so, we must speak out when it happens, and take personal responsibility to prevent it from happening in the future - let us all commit to ending this pandemic.
