MEDIA RELEASE: The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) has been made aware of an alleged assault on three public individuals.
The alleged assault is said to have happened when these individuals wanted to forcefully remove their vehicle after it was impounded by Tshwane Metro Police officers on 02 October 2021.
TMPD was informed of these allegations, the TMPD internal affairs unit that deals with conduct of members was immediately instructed to investigate this matter further and to determine a possibility of an internal disciplinary process.
The matter was given full attention and the TMPD fully cooperated with the independent Police investigative directorate (IPID).
Further investigations led to the arrest of eleven TMPD members who are allegedly involved in the assault of the three males.
The Tshwane Metro Police Department condemns such actions from its members, internal disciplinary processes will continue amid with these arrests.
As the TMPD we work very hard to rule out all kinds of corruption within the Department. The safety of all individuals remains our priority.
