About 40 suspected poachers of abalone have been arrested and five boats confiscated as the department of Forestry and Fisheries attempts to curb poaching on marine living resources. The boats have been linked to poaching in the Gansbaai area of the West Coast. Spokesperson for the Department Carol Moses says in another incident the alleged poachers jumped off their boat which was found with two-thousand units of abalone and other diving equipment. Moses is urging traders not to buy marine resources from poachers.
