Durban, Kwazulu Natal: The South African Police and various emergency services are currently on the scene in Durban CBD where a hostage situation is unfolding.
Anton Lembede Street in Durban CBD has been cordoned due to an hostage situation.
According to preliminary information, a former Government Employees Pension Fund
(GEPF) employee allegedly holding colleagues hostage at Durban office demanding to cash out his pension money.
Details from the scene are still very sketchy, but it's been alleged that the suspect is armed with a firearm as well as an explosive device.
The Explosives unit of SAPS are in attendance as well as a special task force.
At this point we can confirm that nobody has been injured and emergency paramedics are in attendance should anybody be injured.
