An alliance to defend and advance the interest of the South African theatre and dance community, TADA, has been launched.
Chairperson of the Theatre and Dance Alliance, Lindiwe Letwaba, says the alliance is a representative structure that will serve as a strong voice for the industry as a whole from now
on following the devastating effect of the Covid-19 Lockdown.
She says the body will also engage and hold to account those who have policy and funding authority over the artists and dancers.
This follows allegations of gross mismanagement by the Arts Council of 300- million rand from the Presidential Employment Stimulus Programme- funding that was meant to save and create jobs in the arts and entertainment sector during the State of Disaster.
TADA already consists of over 300 members in all the nine provinces.
