Cape Town Opera's new production of the German favourite, "Hansel und Gretel", is said to create magic at the Artscape Theatre Centre in the Mother City at the moment.
Engelbert Humperdinck's opera boasts a collaboration with world renowned artist / photographer Roger Ballen and Marquerite Rossouw, South Africa-born Italy- based director,
Alessandro Talevi and the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra.
They say a unique and enchanting production was created by juxta- positioning the beautiful music and the intense psychological world created by its designers.
The opera, based on the original and famous fairy tale of the Brothers Grimm, is bringing the tale's darker psychological depths and dimensions to the fore.
"Hansel und Gretel" still has a short run at the Artscape Opera House this week.
