A City of Cape Town staff member has been shot and wounded during a robbery while working in Samora Machel in Nyanga.
The city says it has temporarily withdrawn its water and sanitation services from the area following the attack.
Officials were repairing a collapsed sewer pipeline when the incident occurred.
member for water, Xanthea Limberg says the team's supervisor was seriously injured and hospitalised when he was shot at by four teenage suspects in Helen Joseph Street.
Staff members were also robbed of their personal belongings.
Limberg says water-related service requests, such as clearing sewer blockages or repairing burst pipes, will not be attended to during this time.
She says services resume as soon as it is safe to do so.
