The City of Cape Town has warned the public to be aware of people posing as electricity officials to gain access to their homes.
Mayoral Committee Member for Energy, Phindile Maxiti, says the suspects are dressed in municipal clothing and carry some form of identification.
He says they insist on
access to check electricity infrastructure and rob residents of personal items.
Maxiti says officials will make the necessary appointment if they need to check electricity metres.
He says municipal workers and contractors must carry a city-issued identification card.
