Eden Cluster confiscates drugs worth R80 000 during crime combatting operations EASTERN CAPE - Integrated crime combating operations to eradicate the illicit drug trade yielded positive results when police confiscated drugs with an estimated street value of R80 000 during an operation that commenced on Thursday, 04 March 2021 and
ended earlier today.
Early this morning (2021-03-05) at about 01:00 members attached to the Outeniqua K9 and the Eden Cluster Crime Combating Te am conducted an operation at a drug outlet at Melford Notshokovu Crescent, Lawaaikamp, George.
The team descended on the house and upon searching the premises they found 407 Mandrax Tablets, 130 gram Tik and one 9mm round.
Police confiscated the drugs with an estimated street value of R37 000 as well as an undisclosed amount of cash, believed to be proceeds of the drug trade.
Subsequently they arrested two suspects aged 41 and 45.They are facing charges of dealing in drugs and possession of ammunition.
Last night (2021-03-04) at about 23:45 an intelligence driven operation involving
the Eden Cluster Crime Combating Team, Crime Intelligence, Public order Police and Outeniqua K9 led to the confiscation of drugs with an estimated street value of R4600 at a house at Makhaza Street, Thembalethu.
The police confiscated 69 sachets of Tik and 38 Mandrax tablets at the residence.
A 30-year-old suspect was arrested who face a charge of dealing in drugs.
Yesterday, members attached to the Thembalethu Crime Prevention Unit also arrested a 19-year-old woman after drugs was found in her possession at a house at Zone 6, Thembalethu.
The members confiscated 33 bankies of dagga, 11 dagga stops, 4 Tik lollies and 8 Mandrax Tablets at her house.
Police also seized two scales that were allegedly used to weigh the illicit substances.
The suspect faces a charge of possession of drugs.
A further three suspects aged between 13 and 43 were arrested in Ladismith, Oudtshoorn and George on a charge of dealing in drugs each.
The police confiscated drugs with an estimated street value of R37 000 during these arrests.
All arrested will appear in various courts once charged.
